Quantum Mindfulness

This was our sixth session at Broad Oak Village Hall

We randomly picked a mini practise to focus on. Phil picked ‘the body’

We practised our normal Sitting Meditation and Walking Meditation.

A New Resource

Following the reasonably successful trial of the mini meditations. I have recorded loads for you to download!

I have split the sitting meditation into 7 steps,

and made a 5 minute mini meditation for each.

If you are finding the practise again section helpful you could hit this button too.

The foundation of happiness is mindfulness. The basic condition for being happy is our consciousness of being happy.
If we are not aware that we are happy, we are not really happy.
When we have a toothache, we know that not having a toothache is a wonderful thing. But when we do not have a toothache, we are still not happy. A non-toothache is very pleasant.

I described ‘Joy’ in the gata

“I am alive; I feel Joy’

This is not the joy of Christmas when you had a whole school holiday ahead of you and a pile of presents downstairs waiting to be opened. Expecting that is too much to ask. Instead here joy is simply the oppotunity for our needs to be met. Not all our needs either, maybe just some fundimental ones like having enough oxygen in our blood, enough water so we dont feel thirst. Keep it simple.

When we find ourselves in challenging times it can be very annoying to be told to feel joy like Christmas or a birthday party because we are a long way from those feelings. HOwever you can believe in the expectation of simple needs being met in this moment and probably the next few, no matter how challenging you find the world you find yourself in today.

Similarly ‘Happy’ in the gata

“I am Meditating; I am Happy”

This is not happy like party poppers and disco dancing happy, or even sunshine and flowers happy. Even if you can’t be aware of your mind today, which is my definition of meditation, you can confirm that some of your needs are being met. That might be a really simple need like I am breathing, I have enough oxygen. I have eaten today, I am not hungry. Keep it simple and the conditions for happiness are all around us.

If you have managed to glimpse your mind if only for a part of one breath then you have been meditating. It is hard and so you should pat yourself on the back because you have done it. Mind is the trickiest bit of self but with repetition those glimpses become moments and so on.
