This was our fifth meet up in the Virtual room

We spoke about alternative ways we could practice walking meditation;

Then we all practised the Sitting Meditation.

Re-Connect with nature

This week we spoke about the differences between Sitting meditation and Walking meditation. Since we have been in the virtual space we have not been able to practice this core activity as a community.

So the challenge this week is to see if we can have a go at developing mindfulness and concentration with open eyes.

Some idea might be just to take a dozen mindful steps in the park or public space. Remember that no one will come up to you and disturb as they need to stay 2 metres away! It might be a challenge to handle a feeling of self consciousness, I bet you can.

Another idea was just to slip off your shoes and stand on the grass, stone, pebbles, any natural material, ideally outside. Bring your awareness to the rich tapestry of sensations that are freely available in nature.

Facing Fear

This week we discussed Fear and how to Feel Safe in the small group sessions in the week.

Obviously the COVID situation can be scary.

Reminding us of our fears of death and illness, the vulnerability of our loved ones and the suffering from isolation.

At tea we had a very heart felt discussion about the benefit of our practice community and the help we can all give each other at this challenging time.

No matter how small your gesture of support and gratitude it goes a very long way to relive the suffering of those around us.
